Thanks to my listeners

Posted September 6, 2009

To All My Friends and Supporters,

I figure if you've made it this deep into the internet world of Phil Cianciola to read this, you certainly are interested enough to deserve a little post here about my current 'situation.'

I can not talk much about it for now. Perhaps later.

I do plan on keeping people informed about what is going on with me by posting short updates on my Twitter account.

http://twitter.com/cianciola

But at this time and in this place all I really want to do is say a huge thank you to all the many, and I mean many kind emails and posts at various places that fans and friends have left for me. I DO care about you all. And as I have said in the past, just connecting with YOU and maybe making YOU laugh or smile is the best part of my job...er, ah, my former job.

I promise you that I am already working hard to get back on the radio in the city of Milwaukee to have that chance to again entertain, inform and maybe make you smile. You know I'm a Milwaukee guy, and if I can land a gig in Milwaukee then that would be my first choice.

More to come....stay tuned. Things happen for a reason. A door closes, another one opens....all that good stuff....Trying to stay positive. I know that many of you have and are going through the same thing.

Phil

Class act. Thanks for the update. Looking forward to more.

Sorry to hear that they let you go. You are right...things happen for a reason. Good luck in your job search and I'm sure you will find something pretty quick! Take care and God Bless!

Thanks for making my afternoon trip home a fun ride. Not to dis anyone but YOU are the reason I listened. I will find someplace else to hang my ears until you find a place to land.
You're a classy guy working in a cut throat business. Good luck in the journey....I will be listening for you.

Phil, for years I listened to you on the drive home, until the revolving door started with Mark Reardon....I still tuned in every once in awhile, and was and still am a fan....I just don't see how this decision helps that radio station, but, yes, things do happen for a reason I guess....I wish you the best of luck my friend and I really appreciated all those Greenhouse Nuggets CD's over the years, and the effort you and everyone else put in to them for that charity....

God speed in whatever future endeavor awaits you.....

Hi Phil
As a guy who drives for a living the afternoons just got a whole lot longer and as a rider they will be more boring with out your take on the radio, I hope you land a job soon.

How about you and Dick find a gig together? That would rock the airwaves.

Phil,

I grew up in Milwaukee only listening to 'tmj in the afternoons. I moved to Orlando, FL in 1994 and made sure I listened to you on the internet almost every day. But now I will have to change my afternoon listening habits. The change won't be easy. You always put a smile on my face when I needed it. I guess us former 'tmj listeners will have to do the same for you. Good luck and God Bless.

I am so sorry to hear that Phil. I've been listening for years and you are a fantastic radio journmalist. I have also lost my job as a carpenter in Fondy. I wish you the best and look forward to hearing you on the waves again. I sincerely hope Jon and Bill are as shocked as we are. Good luck!

I am phils sister and cant say enough about all the years I have always listened to him and enjoyed having him share stories about our lives and the lives of others . there is also a saying I remember what you put into the lives of others will one day come back into your own. with that I say good luck on turning that page and finding what will make you and others happy and smile. for time never changes those memories or moments we have shared with you on the radio ... its where you belong phil your sis... cherie

Hi Phil,

Like others, I to am sad and upset to see you off of WTMJ. Unlike others, I took my anger and frustration to my blog. Below is the address of a blog post I made the other evening.

http://sharksandbearswi.blogspot.com/2009/09/fun-at-work-wellwe-cant-have-that.html

Please bear in mind I was still pretty upset at the whole situation and it does come out in my writing. The point remains the same however. Please keep us updated on your job search so we know what station to listen to!

Thanks again for all the time you put into entertaining us for all those years!

I've been a fan since your Don Vogel days! I was so happy when you picked up cycling, too. A guy with your talent will be working soon - so enjoy this "vacation" and I'll see you on the trails!
All best wishes.
Fellow hipster,
Pete

You never truly appreciate what you got till its gone. I moved away from SE Wis this year to Denver Metro. I just wish they had a Phil(Green)show style here. KOA would be lucky to hire you. I would turn off XM/Sirrus ANY DAY for that, but for now that's all I bother to listen too, cause nowdays most of live radio sucks .

I've never understood why the greenhouse format of talking about the day's events (without some given political bent) and without calls - was so unique. Its just common sense to me, but programing directors seem to not get it.

Rock on, (and heck for that matter change the world at KOA)

BTW - there's good biking here

Seriously?!?! WTF?!?!? Phil, I hope that this was your decision and if not, I have no respect for TMJ anymore. I think the best afternoons were the Greenless House. I am sure Jonathon is a great guy but I think the show was more comical and flowed much better with you at the helm. I am looking forward to hearing you soon on a different point on the dial.

I will check back on this to see where you are going, but be sure to have a big press release party.

Good luck!!

In total shock, Phil. I had thought that you would be taking Green's gig after hosting for him throughout the summer. When you were host, along with Bill, and Dan, it was actually a party! You were so funny, so entertaining, and kept things moving. Yes, there are reasons for everything. But, losing your voice everyday is like the loss of a friend to keep me company for three hours every weekday. You're irreplaceable. The synergy between both yourself and Bill was the best radio talk in Milwaukee. I don't understand how all the good you did, how well you represented WTMJ with dignity and grace, your love for animals, for the hospice, all now gone for thousands of listeners. You were one of us, sharing both the good and bad, laughing and crying. What a blow to MILWAUKEE RADIO. All the best to you, your wife and your beloved Dog. God Bless you, my friend.

Wow, this was not good news! My 23 year old daughter and I were just talking about how you would continue on when Jon retires in the future and it was great that it would still feel like family in the afternoons. She graduated from UW Madison in the spring and credits TMJ with keeping her sane in the world of Madison. I don't know how many times she would call and say "Did you here what Phil just said" and then we would talk about it. You are going to be missed greatly! I may end up exploring other radio options after 25 years with WTMJ :(
Best wishes to you and Sandy with whatever the future holds.

Phil,
I always looked forward to the weeks when Green was on vacation and you took the hosting reins. You were the primary reason I would listen to 620 on my 40 minute drive home each afternoon.

Until you land somewhere else, I guess it's back to NPR and my MP3's.

Hang in there brother...better days ahead!

Phil,
Cannot believe it - I am incredibly shocked. My
husband and I listened to the Greenhouse because of you. We'll be looking for an alternative during that time slot. When you land another job - and you will - keep us posted - we'll tune in any way we can.

Good Luck!

Phil, I could not say it better than Jeff Ostach said it in his blog. I was on vacation last week and frantically was searching to find out what happened to you. I am in shock. You will truly be missed on the radio in the afternoons. But I know you will land on your feet because you are just too good not to be on the radio. God Bless.

You knew it was coming and so did I after these many years!! You were the only thing going on in the afternoon!! Why is Milwaukee "talk radio" so screwed up?? I will tell you okay?? Wexler came back and is Steve Smiths "right hand "man for radio and knows absolutely nothing about it!! If it wasn't for the Brewers, Packers, Badgers, and Bucks, there is nothing going on!!
Sykes, Wagner, Harris, etc have the same notes and show prep as any "conservative talk show host" in the country!! Why do we have to listen to the crap everyday?? Same reason that Obama tries to talk to kids!! I'm waiting for Gene Mueller to be gone because the "management" will not agree with his opinions on his blog!! I am going to go and e-mail (Ithink I did) Wexler, etc.!!

WOW, I cannot believe it. I'm in shock! it's like losing a good friend. I'm done with WTMJ. I hope you find a new station soon. God Bless you and Sandy.

I am shocked to learn that you were let go at WTMJ. I've been a fan of the show for years and the chemistry that you, Jon, Bill and Andy had was something special and I like many others already had you penciled in as the host of the show when Jon retired! You really did a great job whenever Jon was on vacation. The "Manglement" at WTMJ showed how little they understand what good radio is.
Best of luck Phil. I'll be listening for you!

Phil,

I live in Phoenix and listened to the "Show" on the internet, I enjoyed your segments "ONLY" since you did a wonderful job at entertaining the "Radio Listener." WTMJ made a huge mistake!!! They would have been wise to show "Jonathan Green" the door since he is the "Worst Radio Host" to hit the airwaves!!! Good Luck and make them regret their decision by getting on another Station and crushing their numbers!

Phil,
I was out of town from Saturday to Tuesday and just checked this blog. I couldn't believe what I was reading! I am shocked and saddened!! I was sure, like many others, that you would take the helm when Jonathon retired.
I really hope you will stay in the Milwaukee area.
Whatever happens, God bless you and Sandy.

Phil,

Its been about ten years since I was around Radio City. I can't believe the changes. You were the last person that I thought would be shown the door. You were the one who helped them dig out of the Jay Marvin and Kathleen days. I know you will land on your feet (or bike wheels). Good Luck. and ditto to Steve O's last sentence.

Phil,
Too bad WTMJ made this unwise decision. They have lost a 30 year listener for their afternoons. I hope you are back on the airwaves sooner than later. Keep peddling :-)

Wow. Good luck, Phil. Things are bad all over on the broadcast front. I'm wrapping up the end of my third-quarter furlough... and trying to figure out how I will spend my fourth-quarter free week off.

Best wishes!

I've offically stopped listening to The "not so" GreenHouse. I was hoping that it was going to to become "The House that Phil Built". Green's a clown...how did you handle him all those years. You'll be better off with out him. I still listen to Mark Reardon on KMOX and I'll always listen to you. Maybe you should do your own internet news show. 3-5pm daily. Your the only reason I bought nuggets. god bless you & your wife and praying for better days for all. my 2¢

Hey Phil, I was shocked when I saw "unemployment" on your other blog, and looked up Cuprisin's Facebook page for info. I'm looking forward to where you land next, but who will I visit when I sneak back in to Radio City?

Time to break out the old Nuggets and reminisce.

Phil, I am still shocked that you were let go. I'm sorry to hear about this sad news. You were fun and enjoyable to listen to and you were very informative. I will miss you, as I know that I am not the only one. You have a lot of fans out there and from 3-6 (Mon-Fri), that's what I looked forward to. I truly believe someone in Milwaukee will be wise enough to put you back on the radio again. When that happens, I will be there to listen to the greatest name in Milwaukee radio. Take care and I wish you all the best, Phil.

Dear Phil,
I am not a fan of change... this is a shocker. I encourage you to persevere in this trial. You made me lol every single day you were on the radio, brightening everyone's afternoon. I look forward to hearing your voice and witty news-telling ways very soon. Thanks for all you do to support St. Mary's Hospice, a place near and dear to my heart too. Take care my friend and hang in there!

Hi Phil,
Like many others I was out of state for a couple of weks and looked forward to hearing you on the airwaves.SUPRISE!! No Phil.
I searched TMJ's site and it was like you didn't ever exist!!
CRAP now I have to find another station to laugh with in the afternoon.
I'll keep your site to favorites looking forward to hearing you on another station.
You always made sense and made me think outside the box.
God bless and happy trails.
a faithful listener, Brian

Phil,
I will miss your energy in the afternoon. I'm hoping that it won't be for long. You built such a powerful brand for the afternoon drive time I'm sure that all this manure will only help your garden grow. Poetic huh? Thanks for all the fun, charity and and sharing of your life. My father died a day after your lake neighbor passed away and your words of tribute to him helped ease my pain.
I have to change my dial soon the hear the "biggest name in Milwaukee radio" but know that people are listening and can't wait to hear how you come out of this tough time. Of course, I'm in full boycott mode until I hear some lame rendition of why you were let go.
Hear you soon,
Dan

What??? I will miss you on the show. I was wondering where you have been the past couple of weeks. Hang in there!

Phil! I thought maybe you were just on vacation - now I find out this!!! I guess you weren't
republican enough for tmj. Now I'll just listen until John and Gene sign off at 8:30. At least you don't have to listen to Sykes' hate rages everyday!

Best of Luck to you - you were too good to be at that station, anyway. Guys like you and Steve Dahl will always have a place in radio.

I be anxious to hear where you land!

Phil: I was in shock when I heard that you were no longer with TMJ. What's Jonathan without Phil? WTMJ will find that out!!! You WILL find another job, you're too good not to! I looked forward to what you added to the program. I wasn't home on Monday and wanted my husband to listen to what Jonathan might say about you leaving but NOTHING!!! Good Luck to you. There is something better out there for you. You don't need them, they NEEDED YOU and it's their loss. God Bless.

I too have been wondering where you were and today when their was no Pak Yak about that ridiculous game, and no mention from Jonathan where you were I had to call TMJ. TERRIBLE DECISION on their part. I too was hoping you would take over once Green retired...you made the show! TMJ just lost an afternoon listener! I'll keep checking to see where you land and know for sure I'll be listening to you!!! Take care!

I can't believe the news. I too have been busy and thought you were on vacation. They let you go! Why? Seems like TMJ better wise up on their demographics and who is listening. Phil, Hope you find something soon. Thanks for the great afternoon entertainment.

Phil,
What a shock I got when I found out you "weren't" on vacatation. I have a hard time listening to the Green house without you. I can't wait until you get back on your feet. Just remember " What goes around comes around". Have fun

Phil, I was so sorry to hear that you were let go. You were the reason to listen to the Greenhouse. The show was never the same when you were on vacation...and now you won't be back. I hope you are doing as well as can be expected. Take the time to log more miles on your bike and spend tiem with your wife and dogs. Thanks for all of the laughs and insights over the years. Best of luck finding a gig in Milwaukee.

Phil, disbelief doesn't begin to summarize my feelings. I've listened to you guys for as long as I can remember while finishing up my mail route in Clintonville. I can remember times I'd race home after work to e mail you something and you would always respond. Thanks from one of your many fans in northern Wisconsin. Good luck and hang in there!

It's a sad day for TMJ. GREENhouse has lost its best and brightest color... and I loved the awful weather jingle on Friday mornings! : )

We have been waiting and waiting to hear your voice on the radio again. When you are not there....we turn off the radio. We thought you were on vacation and kept waiting to hear when you are returning. We never heard your name mentioned so we called the station. They said you no longer are with them. We decided that we too will no longer be with THEM. We will find another station and hopefully one that we can again hear your voice and humor. Good luck!!!!

My husband and I were shocked to hear this news. We have missed your presence on the air and just assumed you were on vacation, biking somewhere fabulous. We found out online last night and feel such a loss because your humor, wackiness, showmanship and perspective are sorely missed. The show is now flat and shrill and just plain irritating at this point. You provided an uplifting and sharp-witted presence that is so unique. I also will be looking elsewhere on the dial now as there is no compelling reason to stay with WTMJ. (I have been a listener for 38 years.) I tuned in simply because you were there in that time slot, and you made me laugh every day. I wish you all the best and sincerely hope, for you and for all of us, that we hear your voice on local radio soon. Take care and thanks for all the great entertainment. We wish you all the best.

I too have been waiting for your voice to return. On my way home from work yesterday (thinking maybe you would be back from vacation), I was very dissappointed when I didnt' hear you ...again. I started to realize something wasn't right, and started searching for information. I am really saddened to find you are no longer there. I looked so forward to my ride home after work each afternoon with you. You had me laughing out loud many, many times in the car. LOVE your sense of humor! You will be missed, and I too will be looking for a new station (hopefully with your voice on it). Best of luck to you.

Debbie
Muskego

Whilst I did not approve all of your topics for stories, I very much enjoyed listening to you on the way home. I did not like it when Greene kept on interrupting you with his foolish ramblings. I do hope that you will land somewhere in Milwaukee (sparse pickings - but possible). You were the reason I listened to WTMJ in the afternoon. Stay well.

d.a.m.n.

I was like Debbie, and Gloria, and Debbie... waiting for your to get back from some top ubber fabulous top-secret bike trip.

d.a.m.n.

Phil, thank you. As a PNWer city girl transplanted into a small, rural Wisconsin town I was desparate for a connection to a metro source.

Then one day, you were on the radio in my husband's truck and I've listened the last dozen years or so. You've greatly aided my transition from your typical "it's not Ore-gone, it's pronouced orygin" type (which is generally every Oregonian you meet) to salt of the earth Wisconsinite.

Gosh, you are fabulous! I've remarked to my husband how it's bid odd and a wee tad creepy how close you can feel to someone on the radio. And now I'm in tears.

Blessings to you and your wife.

Regards,
Jenny Bluett
Algoma, WI.

Phil ... Thank you for your loyalty to your listeners, and giving us the info you could. Without you, the show is Greenhouse Gas ... ugh.

Take care and I will follow you to your next gig. Best wishes

I can't believe it! They really blew it again! You were the reason I listened. No more! Can't wait to find out where you land. Good luck!

I so looked forward to a good laugh(s) after work from you!

Phil, I'm truly sorry that you are no longer a voice in the afternoon that we can listen and laugh to. I had been on vacation up until a week and half ago and was wondering what was going on ,without any mention of where or what you've been up to. And to find out that you were shown the door is such a manner without a reason to be had. My concern for your loss is also personal. My company is one of the many loyal advertisers that keeps WTMJ in business. Based upon not only the comments made on your site, and on other blogs that I found myself reading for the last hour and a half ,trying to find out why you were let go. I now have to make a decision whether or not it is in the best intrest of my company to advertise with WTMJ in the future. You brought good ratings, and good ratings meant more ears heard my spots, which translates into more potential clients. In listening to the Greene House the last week, the magic is no longer there. I now feel my money is no longer well spent. Take care of yourself Phil, and good luck!

Phil,
I can't believe that WTMJ has made this move. My husband and I have talked about the day that you will finally take over the show at 3:00. Please know that we miss you. We will no longer be tuning in to 620 at 3:00. Keep all your fans informed of your next adventure. Healthy and happy rides to you!

I have written to you earlier but just read all these comments and felt compelled to add my 2 cents worth. I hope that Robert S. does decide to drop his advertising with "that station" as maybe they will realize how incredibly stupid this move was. I read your website every day and am waiting for your pod cast also. I cancelled our loyal listener membership and let them know our feelings - we need you back as afternoon radio is nowhere now. Wishing good things for you - you deserve it and it will happen!

Phil, It's too bad that you had to be let go by TMJ to find out how many people are fans of yours. Count me as one of many. I sure wish I knew what the big wigs were thinking when they made this decision. I hope they are kicking themselves around the block with all of the negative feedback they've been receiving. Can't listen to the Green House anymore, but I will keep following your blog and will be looking forward to your podcast.

Sorry to hear that you are no longer at TMJ! Been out of the country on a terrific vacation and then come back to hear this. I was sorry to see Mark R go and just as sorry to hear you have been let go. Pinheads in management can't be any other explanation. I love my morning shows on TMJ (listen at work) but really, the afternoon slot does need to be light, I am done with politics and financial matters for my ride home. Good luck. You'll land on your feet; the end of one thing is simply the beginning of something new.

"Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving”

I often have to turn Charlie off and there were times when I couldn't take Jonathan but you kept me listening. We are moving to Milwaukee and are a bit less excited about it now.

My daughter was a TMJ intern and said you were one of the nice guys.

Left a link to my brother's site, he is learning how to make bike frames. http://forestbikes.blogspot.com/

Looking forward to your bright future!

Phil-- I too thought you were on vacation and was very saddened to hear that you were let go. WTMJ was nuts to do that. You were the main reason I Iistened on my way home from school each day. You are so talented and much, much better than the so-called talented one the show is named after. I am so sick of him, but listened because of you. He is arrogant and rude, but you kept the show going and on the right track. I truly hope you find something worthwhile of your talent and I will be watching to see when the podcast starts. I wish you all the luck in the world. TMJ is going to be sorry they let you go. They lost another afternoon listener. Take good care and stay positive.

Hey Phill sent an email to WISN and a snail mail also. Are there any other stations we can champion your cause? The Green House is flat and not worth listening to without you directing the direction of the show. So if I can help and your fans, direct us. At least we have your site to get a laugh. Thanks for everything and hang in there. Liz in Sheboygan

Phil-My husband and I were very upset to learn of your firing. We have been loyal listeners to the Greenhouse for many years and like many other people have said it is just not the same without you. We also thought that one day when Jon retired you would be taking over the show. We only listen occasionally now because the show is just not funny any more. Good luck to you finding a new radio gig in Milwaukee and keep your loyal fans up to date. At least we still get to keep up with what you are doing by viewing your website. You still make us laugh!

I was stunned to hear you are no longer with WTMJ. You were the glue that held 3-6pm together with your clever wit, interesting stories, and smoothovers. The other 3-6pm broadcasters are either rude, arrogant, dimwitted, or all of the above. WTMJ will undoubtedly lose many listeners because of this.

Phil - Know that you are missed. I'm 58 years old and look forward to hearing where you will be. The caring side of the Green House is gone! Looking forward to your next broadcast.

Like everyone else, I thought you were on vacation and I also assumed you would take over for Jonathan if he would ever retire. I never turned on WTMJ until 3 pm because of all the conservative crap on that station--should be called WGOP. You and Bill Michaels were the only reason I could stomach having to listen to Green and it was great when he was not there and you covered for him. It was refreshing to hear someone without a political agenda and bias. Even the news is reported with a bias on that station. Now I will only listen to the sports programs on WTMJ. I will check back on your website to see what station has the good sense to hire you. Best of luck to you.

Phil,

I am so sorry that TMJ let you go...you are the only reason that I listened to TMJ...without you, the ratings will go south in a real short time...

Good luck and keep everyone posted on where your next gig will be and we will all follow you up that "YELLOW BRICK ROAD" ! You will be sadly missed

My ride home just isn't the same without you on the radio. You were the highlight of the Greenhouse and it just isn't the same without you. I truly hope you are back on the radio in Milwaukee soon. I will definitely switch stations to listen to you again. Best of luck in landing a new radio home.

Phil, Phil, Phil what is going on? I only listened because you were on. Who cares about Jonathan! I called the station and was told only that you were not employed there. I told them how much I missed you. Don't like that woman! Will not be listening to WTMJ.

I usually tune into TMJ Radio and was missing your voice and clever commentary. I finally caught the beginning of the Greenhouse show and knew they would have said something if you were just on vacation or having surgery, etc...WOW, I can't believe it! You made me laugh so many times! I will miss you! I always thought the enjoyment of listening to the Greenhouse was the mix of personalities that complimented each other. You were the BEST!

HI Phil,

Call me un-observent and un-informed! I finally decided to track you down. I too like evryone else thought you were vacationing. I am sorry to here about your job at WTMJ. I hope things are OK between you and Jonathan Green. I grew up with him but loved the combination of the 2 of you together. I look forward to hearing your voice and comedy on the radio again!

I too just realized that you were not on vacation. So sad you are gone! I have enjoyed listening to you for many years on my way home from work. You were the heart of the show. WTMJ will regret this decision! Wishing you all the best!

Here's hoping the podcast thing works out! We all miss you. Thank goodness for the "Greenhouse Nuggets" cd's I have.

I was wondering why you were not back from vacation yet and realized you are no longer with TMJ. UNBELIEVABLE!!! The 3 of you made a great team and I will miss you and your humor. You are a great radio presence and I hope to hear you again soon. Please let me know where you land. Good luck to you and I wish you and Sandy the very best.
David

I was shocked when I heard you were gone. I enjoyed the chemistry you and Jon had. My ride home is just not the same. What can we do to get you back? Good luck you will be missed.

Sorry to hear, Phil. I haven't listened in a while, since I moved way up north to Tomahawk a few years back. I tuned in to listen to the GB-MN pregame on the internet and figured it out from there.

I'm really shocked...it's "your former employer's" loss. You're a great talent and a great guy. You'll end up in a better place.

Thanks for nothing WTMJ. Now I have to find a new radio outlet at 3pm daily. Phil was 'The Man'. Best shows were the Greenless ones. The management pundants let the wrong guy go. Shame on WTMJ for Phil and Dick's departure.

WTMJ is on crack. We all miss you Phil.

We were waiting impatiently for Jonathan Green to retire and for you to host and now are shocked to learn that you were let go. Please stay in Milwaukee.

Phil,I am a medical sales rep in SE WI and always looked forward to listening to you and YOU only. What a loss. I will wait to hear you again,
Very soon. I'm from Chicago and what a time slot it would be between you and Gary Mier
7200WGN WOW. I'm IN. Good Luck
Don

Phil -
I was going crazy trying to figure out what happened to you. I too was on vacation and when I came back thought what the heck is going on. . . where is Phil?? Needless to say, I am shocked to hear of the decision at WTMJ. Like so many of the other comments made you made that show and I too liked it better when it was the Greenless show. I wish you all the best and look forward to hearing about your future. I really miss your talent and consider you one of those friends that I actually never met but feel I really know because you are not afraid to "just be you". That is what I like the best. Best to you and Sandy.

Phil - We've been out of state and have been looking/listening for you in the afternoons. Drive time and meal prep will not be the same without you. What was TMJ thinking? Please try to land a job in the Milwaukee market. We need to hear your voice again. Best of luck to you and Sandy.

Holy Crap Phil,
I was wondering what the heck happened to you. I guess I was one of the last ones to track this travesty down.
I first thought you were on vacation, and than I thought maybe you got hurt on the bike, but nothing was being said on air.
I had to start a search on the internet, to find out where you were, and you know how hard it is to spell your last name...
Wherever that new door takes you, keep us posted, I'll definetly follow you through it. I've already closed the door on TMJ.
I'll have to keep playing the nugget CD's til you get back. I hope it's in Milwaukee. Take Care.

Phil,
After not hearing your voice for about 2 weeks, I figured you either had another major surgery or you were canned by the brilliant decision makers at WTMJ. I did a google search and found out the news. Your enthusiasm for your job and intelligence was evident each day. You were the only one to challenge Green when he'd make narrow minded comments. You were the 'ying' in WTMJ's republican 'yang'. Your insights and open minded intrepretations of news stories made listeners really think. My wife and I will miss you and your humor on our way home from work each day. I don't understand how WTMJ can fire such a talented person and leave the show to a person who clearly should be retired. Green openly asks, what can management do to me? His heart isn't in his job anymore. Without you, the 'show' is absolutely flat! The morning show is led by a stumbling, bumbling personality. It's amazing how the decision makers can overlook that lack of talent and go after you. You are a very likeable person and I'll be surprised if you don't land another job in radio, hopefully here in Milwaukee, with a company that will appreciate your passion for what you do. WTMJ just lost some more listeners. Good Luck.

I finally googled you today to find out what the heck happened to you. Shock and dismay is the only way to describe your firing. I echo the thoughts of so many other posts, thinking that you would take over for JG when he finally retired and that the best Greenhouses were the Greenless ones. VERY disappointing. I hope TMJ brass gets the message about how upset your fans are over this. What a bunch of boneheads! We are all looking forward to find out where you land, hopefully somewhere local. Good luck to you and thanks for all the laughs....

I obviously feel the same way as the other folks that are writing. I've listened for years and am extremely saddened by your absence. I was just waiting for the day when you would take over the show! Actually my entire family feels this way and you were the topic of conversation at a recent fish fry. Were your ears ringing? We're all very much looking forward to finding you somewhere else on the airwaves! Take care!

Good luck to you Phil. TMJ has certainly lost another listener.

Boy, coming back from vacation really sucks when you drive home in your car each night and your favorite radio voice is silent. WTMJ is nuts. I hope you land another radio gig soon; I need your voice, your humor and your spirit.

The "Greenhouse" isn't the same without you. Why does management always think they have all the right answers when they don't know anything! They will find out when the ratings show different. Hope you are back on the radio again soon so all of us "up north" can hear you!

TMJ obviously did a great job glossing this thing over - I too thought you were out on vacation but nothing being said, I knew something was up. The thing I find most distasteful is that TMJ requires us as faithful listeners to make a personal connection and committment with you and others in order for the show to be a success. For you to be let go with no explanation is an insult to us. I realize that's radio - too bad for them though. You will succeed, they may not??? Anyway, to really be considered a true radio guy, don't you have to be fired at least three times. Thanks to TMJ for bringing you closer to your true arrival.

You're the personallity that made us smile and laugh in the afternoon so we wish you the best .
tmj is NOT the same without you. It's just a matter of time that you will back on the air.

I'll make sure that my friends who pay for advertising on 620 (and I have several who do lots of business with them) follow you where ever you go . . . I used to listen to 620 morning, noon, and night, but I assure you that that is a thing of the past. I'll find a new network who values me as a consumer, and provides me with the quality broadcasting I deserve. Phil, you are the best. I hope you find something quick, and I hope you stay in the Milwaukee area, so that I will once again have someone to brighten my days.

Thanks Phil, you will be missed. Tmj has lost another listener, it is wrong not to say what happened to you. Like many others I had to google to find out. Bush league!!!!!!!!!

The best shows were when Jonathon was gone and you were in charge. Just one more reason why I mostly listen to 720 WGN from Chicago rather than 620 anymore!

Gosh - Jonathon's perpetual "analysis" makes me crazy. You will be missed. Guess I am now a Belling fan. . . Good luck to you.

Phil I was shocked to find out that you were not on vacation.I could not believe that tmj let you go. I hope you land a new gig soon so that we can enjoy your views (although sometimes odd) about the news.Your humor will be missed till than. good luck and God bless!!

I'm a guy that doesn't like change when there's no reason to. I've problably been listening to you since the early to mid 90's, ( it's all a blur ). You are my age and I could relate to you more than anyone on the show. I went to college in Whitewater, ( I know you went to Milwaukee but you alway talked about that area, I grew up in Palmyra), have had vintage mustangs, and so on. As a person that leans a little bit more to the left, I loved how you questioned some of these right winged idiological ideas that came about throught the years. I just wanted to write and thank you for that.

Worst decision made on Milwaukee radio in a long time. You were the best part of that show and you will be sorely missed. Good luck to you and really hope to hear you back on the radio soon.

Phil,
From a fellow Trek biker I want you to know that WTMJ made a big mistake. The Greenhouse isn't the same without you. Hope everything works out for you & maybe I will see you on the road someday.

Phil...finally found you...I moved to Green Bay in '89 and took TMJ with me....but really became a fan when you came on board...then we moved to lower MI and I could still pick up the station...you were the reason I listened...my connection to home..thank you for the many great laughs...every day I turn on the radio and think maybe you'll be back...but sometimes a kick in the ass is a step forward...go Phil go...something better is waiting.

You're the only reason I would switch off my Sirius radio at 3:00 p,m. You hear so many horror stories about radio management. I can understand why they are lossing revenue by making bonehead moves like the one they did with you!!!! Good luck my friend and keep us posted.

Ah Phil!
I've read many of the posts and echo the feelings your fans have shared. The show has lost it's spark but you will light your fire somewhere else. You can add your name to a list of others (Mark Reardon, Kevin Hunt) who left the Journal Communications fold and can feel much like the folks who were denied passage on the Titanic. Know that you are missed for your personality and talent and that you have a fan base just waiting for you to emerge.

Obviously the people who make the personnel decisions at WTMJ don't actually listen to their own radio programs. I tried to, I can't anymore. The Phil - less "House" is crap. Greene is insufferable and the new woman is AWFUL! We (and TMJ) were lucky to have you as long as we did. You will end up someplace better. The best ones always do.

Looking forward to hearing you soon...they dumped the wrong guy...should have gotten rid of cranky mr soapbox Green...good luck to you, Phil....again, hope to hear (from) you soon!
